2018 Ride Day!
Strawberry stand owners let us use their spot for one of our rest stops for the ride this year -- so the 62s and 100s has a strawberry themed stop along the way. The real strawberry stand hadn't been used in a while, but found the sign tucked inside, dusted it off, to help welcome the riders. Right alongside a vineyard, so pretty a location. A bit of kismet: found a little kids toy that had been tossed to the side in dirt pile, he looked like strawberry in his way, so was the mascot...and once soaped, went home with a teacher for kids classroom...so nice redemption he had.

Treasure Hunt ...
Recalling fun with treasure hunts from when I was a kid, made up one for gathering this past weekend. Had to make a legend to keep clue placement straight! 3 teams....including some driving for adults in the team...to ice cream, Icee and donuts shops to keep the little kids even more engaged. Included some artwork, card games, dancing, etc -- so tasks and hunts. Devised the clues while on airplane -- in part as a diversion from thinking about work!

Brown Clay Test Tile spurs idea
Testing yet another clay. Larger tiles in two different clay bodies to see how they perform...and firing at higher temperature than prior times.. Had a multi curvy insets on a plain planned for a table, but then this simple rectangle had me saying: "A fine place to start" for new clay...will have easier time judging shrinkage and fitting pieces together if start with more simple shapes. Design element will be random texture and occasional color...the brown clay should bring an "earthiness" to table too, a nice change from some I have done in past.

Hot Air Balloons 2018
An unexpected early venture to catch the balloon "race" in Reno, Nevada. Before sunrise ascent of some with the fire "glow" against the dark sky. Then at 7 am, 80 or so balloons inflated and rose against the blue and white sky.
