First Painting on Canvas

Ok, so it took a looong time (like my lifetime thus far) for me to get to putting any paint on canvas, but then, fast...and yes, that "fast" shows perhaps. I am not literally figurative (that is, I don't draw anything that attempts to look like reality). Miro gets thanked for the background "brushed with sand" and the black house paint (n both matte and semi gloss). I am not sure if I will add more color than the gold I have done here already. Black has been high ratio in my wardrobe, but not in my art....will see what experimenting with it shall do. 

Felt Birthday Cake

Birthday Cake greeting made from felt....stitched by machine.  Rendered a favorite spot by a lake for "peace," with pink for "festive." Yes, I think "peace" can be festive.  All folds flat for slipping into envelope. Left a small slot in candle so that one could slip up a "stiffening" agent (pen top, small dowel).  Can be worn as hat, though my, that would be silly...unless you were a little kid. 

Cowgirl and Cowboy Party -- getting prepared

7 skirts, 6 vests -- sewn. 

2 (stick) ponies procured.

18 cowboy hats procured.

16 ponies for cupcake toppers

pin tail on donkey...via suction bow and arrow.

hula hoop toss (lasso) for hay bale pony secured.

Rose and horRIZon

Does one get credit for rose, even if you only water it? (no...but, so pretty, even as it fades..no photo touching for color....taken about 5:30 pm).  Likewise, does "thinking and doing" classify as taking in beauty? (yes), but the photo serves as capturing the moment rather than something from my hand.

Doll and Monkey Quilts

Work in progress, but since it is a long project and I am running out of April for posting, putting it up here now. The inspiration is the two doll quilts Mrs. Trentacosta made for us as kids. My nieces each have a special "friend" who could use a blanket.  The squares are straight forward, with the "characters" on the certain squares being cut out of iron-on repair patches.  The edges are in progress..binding tape, hand stitched.  Mrs. Trentacosta was a far superior hand sewer than I...."patience" being attributed as a virtue surely had something to do with handwork. Gad. 

Wooden Easter Eggs

The thought was that they would be hidden to help defray the "hassle" (did I say that?!) of doing real eggs each year, but it didn't quite work out that way.  Wooden eggs -- sanded, wood stained, and painted.

Here below "bindi bunny" ...the cherries moved around quite a bit when the green stuff was poured in the mold. Tried to get them back to the right place, but the green "swamp" made it difficult. Once it set, the cherries were as they settled.  Oh, and a joke, perhaps in questionable humor....she also has a hare lip.

Easter Bonnets

Straw Hats, artificial flowers, and glue gun.  Result: 2 Easter Bonnets for two little girls, and an important lesson (the hard way) on how hot glue commands respect in regard to my finger tips.  Use protection!  I knew there was a reason I so rarely use hot glue...not only  because it is a fake way of making something, but also...the pain, the pain  (Dr. Smith to Will Robinson).  (Burn treatment: Cold water soak for 10 minutes, vinegar dab for pain).
