Pitcher and cup -- ceramics - soda fire

"Rustic" might be the nice term for it. Still new at throwing -- at a throwing vessel experience level under the finger count on one one hand when I did these. I was able to actually spray the soda into the kiln on this one -- nice new experience....watching the heat/flame react, and subsequently react on the items as they made it out of the kiln.

Threw the one below yesterday -- has quite a few steps to go -- hopefully the lip stays how intended.

Velvet Ant and more...sights from a walk

Lots of turtles...log in middle of photo. And that was after several plopped back into the water.

Looking Up -- SF

I sat there wondering on how the architect decided to use which brick layout where..the edges of the one bump out were different that the bigger "wings."  Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company Building..finished in 1924. Apparently Churchill made his first transatlantic telephone call from the building-- phoned home.

Not me:

Second High Fire ..glazed

Not among my favorites..hode ho. Surface decoration got messy with the glaze..and my wipe on it did not help. The black stuff..another phenomenon.  Live and learn. Sorry bowl, wasn't trying to mess you up.

4 cups - learning to throw..pottery on the wheel

4 cups: assignment. Granted, some are a bit odd, but new at this! I did normal cup with the pitcher..that one is in kiln...fingers crossed.

First glaze out ..high fire

High fire seems to be able to give more more organic color feeling. This is my first piece out..little, and a little heavy-- a cup and a paper weight at same time.

Pitcher -- Clay ..Ceramics

From my first few initial attempts at throwing.  The pitcher part came into play because it was uneven at the top, then my hand messed it up, and so it went from there into a pitcher...somewhat self determined from the vessel! (and a little help from an more skilled person in class) .

My first attempt at pulling a handle and setting it -- see it is a little funky on the top, and maybe not quite straight on the way down, though my eye didn't catch that all in person, just appears in photo. This is on a drying rack..not yet fired.

Thinking soda fire, so, that will add enough pizazz -- not going to decorate beyond glaze in soda fire.
