Silk Dresses - two more
Created two more dresses out of silk scarves. Basic composition stays the same, but sizes of scarves involved does change elements. If one wanted to travel light, could likely pack 5 along with your normal stuff in a large handbag. Easy care, and hand dries quickly because material light.

Photo Shoot - Silk Dresses
Experiment here to see if we can get it to look to level we like. Photo shoot with the kids -- using the silk dresses as the product. Hopefully helps to develop 'process steps" thinking, matched with their already creative bent. Many more steps to go, but learning and collaboration achieved already with our first couple sessions.

Pillow with vintage doilies
I would not have thought the 13 year old would want anything like this! We were walking around a street fair, and saw some pillows along this line. When we got home, she was talking about the pillows. I told her Grandma had doilies stored away....likely from her Mom's era. So..secured some of those, .pulled out some rawish cream fabric, and the kid arranged the doilies how she liked...I sewed them on, and voila, a pillow. Here it is now placed in her room..(along with lots of other stuff!)

Dress from Scarves - Number Two
Scarves put to new use. I felt a bit bad sewing on the silk Liberty of London ones but they were just sitting in a drawer, so have new life.

Dress made of Scarves
A little trickier than what I thought when I started. To work the scarf sizes together -- granted the simple shape helped, but more engineering than I had thought. In hindsight, I would have chosen a different one for the top -- makes too strong a "bigness" up there..pattern and drape. The American Airlines scarf still needs some ironing(lower back) ...must have been folded for a long time. :)

Beginning of next Tile Table -- Rostam tapestry
Taking a tapestry of a Persian fable Rostam who defeats some mythical not good doers. I am removing some knives and such because that is a bit too much for me to depict in tile. The horns are antlers on some of the creatures and on hats of others (and think as camouflage) -- good and bad.
Anyhow...this is quite different from my other hand made ceramic tile table in that the pieces are bigger, and that there is a background. I decided not to cut the background at the same time because of shrinkage. The pieces have a many deep narrow cuts...and shrinkage will be going on in various directions....I feel if I cut the background now, I would have a mess on my hands. I still may have a mess, but it will be apparent more slowly! 29" x38" should be finished dimensions -- is just part of the tapestry imagery.
I may use some smaller "mosaic" tiles to fill in spots. We shall see.

Silk Dyed and Tailored
Fun to create freedom with fabric. Hard to find hand I like with color, so I took white sueded charmuese from Dharma, dyed it (simmering water, specific dye), and then tailored some simple garments. Nice and flowly, easy enough to sew. I saw that it could take the hot water and the dryer, so no fear that way in future garment care.
