Textured Cut Paper....
Looked like it should be more than it's humble, though important role. Cut paper..a bit thick, but not super rhick..kind of like a paper bag.

Crown Four -- Ceramics with Pattern Detail
Used a paper cut as glaze stencil for design. Glaze as pattern element a change up from the glass and stones of the other crowns in the series. Yes, it fits.

California Poppies -- Antelope Valley 2017
Antelope Valley Poppy Park and along Highway 14. The sun would make them open and even more brilliant -- camera capture would be more bright too if the the clouds lifted a bit. But, spectacular abundance , with orange radiating for the eyes to see miles and miles away.

Ceramic Lamp -- from childhood playhosue
Taking the memories of the playhouse my Dad had built for us in our childhood. On the picture below, one sketch looks like it was his, the other two sketches from my sisters. We had great fun with the house, though perhaps more from the outside than the inside..running around the yard, with the playhouse as as home base for the outside. It was "full size," with a tall and "narrower" than a house door, but plenty appropriate for the playhouse. Interior had redwood ceiling "molding" with script etched on them -- phrases to inspire. Turret had paisleys cut outs with colored glass, and roof had a metal bird at the top. Tiered decks on two sides, coming up from a few wide landing type steps. Yes, quite a fine playhouse. My ceramic one is simple, the shape to connote soaring/reaching more than the shape of the house actually was -- but seemed more appropriate for the lamp. Not settled on the shade..and will likely put a bead or perhaps re-do the step part. But, here it is for now.
Porcelain Bowl with Dots
That red dot out of line moved from under the overglaze..pictures to prove it! Odd, but a mind of its own...which can be good for a dot or a person ...depending on the situation....out of line...perhaps the title of the piece.

Crown...of Thorns
Ok, another crown in the series. Hoping it dries slow enough to make it through to firing. Made a little tent to help slow it down some...the thorns don't have wax resist on them, so poked around and found some hair styling oil to put on them....hmmmm...messing something up, or solving it?! Gad, I am leaving it for a few days, so won't be around to keep an eye on it... have to build up a surround so when the balloon starts losing air, the crown doesn't crash down.

St Wencelas Crown -- In Ceramics with glass
Vaclav IV (Charles IV) crown on display for his 700th birthday at a palace I visited recently...a palace open to the public, but, nonetheless, a palace!
Anyhow, the crowns there inspired me to make a series of crowns...this is the 4th in the series. His coronation crown, which he had made to honor Saint Wenceslas (St Vaclav). Totally tricked out in real life too...gems and pearls basically in this array, though the real crown used sapphires, a ruby, spinels (like a ruby), emeralds and pearls.
My version here is in clay -- fired -- but not solid gold as the real one is rendered! Yes, it fits the head, but a bit heavy.
The original below right...
Here below is how it looked as the clay was drying.

Self Composed
Visit to SFMOMA....which is "committed" to photography as an art form..interactive, and in this case, rightly "obscurable!"
