Sculpture in Progress

Liberated bronze from casting apparatus. This was among my first attempts at wax for bronze....joined people. Has taken a long time to get cast.  Actually, my next post will be my first sculpture actually cast, which I believe is my "best" so far as it has a more personal "learning" meaning to me.  These "joined" people will be removed from the sprues next week.

The "8s" in the last photo were actually my first shapes I kept, but not the first cast.   Hack saw and angle grinder. Now for sandblast and patina. .

Bronze in Process

Ok, putting this on here before it is done is kind of cheating, but it took so long to get it poured, that I feel somewhat ok with progress report.

The picture above involves two different sculptures, plus the sprues that will be removed as I go forward.
Chiselled the casting shell off this today. The pictures below show some of the steps in the pour.

Silk Dyed and Tailored

Fun to create freedom with fabric. Hard to find hand I like with color, so I took white sueded charmuese from Dharma, dyed it (simmering water, specific dye), and then tailored some simple garments. Nice and flowly, easy enough to sew. I saw that it could take the hot water and the dryer, so no fear that way in future garment care.

Light Picture

Hope  it looks like the pool of gold emanating from the base.  Took a picture a friend shot, printed on velum, wrapped around glass holder about 8" tall, light inside.
The smaller one are votive holders using same technique.

Knit Hat

Simple, but first without noticeable flaws.  Shows growth in patience I think!  Before I laud myself too much, please note that I had  previosly been given two hand knitted black hats from Naomi.  One was washed in the machine (wool, so shrunk), the other I lost (I knew one hour after I lost it, but that is still lost). Hopefully this black wool knitted hat will remain tangibly with me for some time.

Banana Fiber Light Shade

Used banana fiber web with stitching to cover light. Hmmm. Could be better. Fiber has a bit of sheen to it, so while it is "natural" has some natural "bling" to it that plays with the light also.

The next day:  Not satisfied that the potential of the fiber had been met with the light cover, played more with its ethereal freedom.  More satisfied, yet not quite at the zenith yet.
